Biography
At eighteen years old Graham began a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Otago, painting in the evenings and holidays. By the third year it had to be one or the other, so he began painting full time.
Graham uses a style varying in degree of realism, depending on both the subject and his mood. For example when he paints cliffs and rocks, Graham often uses a palette knife and thick paint to convey the strength of the landscape. Mist or calm water results in a much softer brushstrokes. Movement in a seascape or river subconsciously produces quicker brush strokes. He enjoys a variety of different styles and subjects. The vibrant Otago landscape also keeps him endlessly inspired.
In a way his whole life is one big painting excursion. He couldn't imagine a holiday without taking his paints and will no doubt take up painting as a hobby when he retires.
