Albie Coetzee's Profile

Biography

Albie Coetzee - Modern

Albie Coetzee was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1963. He studied art and architecture at the University of Pretoria in the 1980s. He also qualified as a lawyer from the same institution and practised law part-time for seven years while at the same time pursuing a career in art. He has been painting full time for the past five years. His works are represented in private collections in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and the Netherlands.

Albies works are rich in contrast in colour and texture with challenging interplay between form, space and movement. He often uses symbolic references of the natural kingdom, literature and ancient societies to convey a reminder of our relationship to nature and spirit drawing one into a quieter place of self.
