Blythe Fletcher's Profile

Biography

Blythe Fletcher was born in Goole, Yorkshire 1890. He arrived in New Zealand in 1909 and married Ada Cox in 1916. He married for a second time in 1921 to Anne Mona Velontas Green and had three children. He painted mainly in Tempera and Watercolour and often combined both. Blythe exhibited with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington, and regularly with the C.S.A. Since about 1980 his work has been keenly sought and prices doubled by 1985. By 1987 his works were selling for 10 times the 1970`s value and are still rising.
